Foghorn Features is a film production company that cuts through the murk to shine a light on offbeat, unpredictable stories. I created Foghorn in 2023 to make formal the work I’d already done as an executive producer for some films, most recently two documentaries with Erin Derham. Julian Price is a sweet 30-minute documentary about my dad that goes way beyond a vanity project, which was my fear when my dad’s widow, Meg MacLeod, approached me with the idea. Erin, who’s also an oral historian, found a way to bring my dad’s interest in figuring out what to do with inherited wealth a universal tale. And there’s wonderful music, too, featuring the Asheville Symphony. The second project with Derham is Stuffed, about the art and science of taxidermy and taxidermists. We got into South by Southwest in 2019, which was pretty exciting. Stuffed also popped up on the Criterion Channel for a little while! With Foghorn, I’m a producer on a few films right now with directors Rustin Thompson, Nick Thompson, Ian Bell and Dae Kim.
